I'm actually thinking of writing a post or doing a video explaining my process one of these days. But in short, I was tired of the locked grid of a typical comic book page dictating the pacing of the story. I was first inspired to do the panels separately and then combining them in a way that best suits the story by "I Never Liked You" by Chester Brown. That's the closest thing to what I do in TUNE. Check out a page from that comic and you'll see what I mean.

I don't think anything could be uncomfortable like someone putting their hands over your mouth while you're trying to take a dump.

I love how she always says, "Hi Andy Go", as happy and care-free as can be. But what do we see in panel 4? Sadness? Concern? Maybe it's just regret that circumstances conspired to take away her art lessons. Or maybe, in some dark protected corner of her Praxian analog of a heart, she feels a little bad for Andy?

to clarify, how some pages might be a 2x3 grid or how they have more scattered layout some days and such? George Herriman come mind, but was there someone you were looking at in particular?

I've been wanting to ask this for some time Derek, what was behind the choice of using the "disembodied panels"?

Eh, Andy should quit being so body shy. If Dash doesn't care he's taking a dump, I don't know why he shouldn't care. What, is he afraid she'll think less of him because his poo smells?

This scene passes ridiculousness and slams straight into sublimity.

Derek, because I presume this scene is your idea, you are sick man and I love you for it.
