I think that pose is plausible. His body’s twisted and the trailing leg is going back horizontally, or close to it. The entire section from hip to below knee being hidden does make it look a bit weird though.
I dunno, it still looks way too long. But on the other hand we have his facial expression in the same panel… that’s bliss, which makes it all right.
